From what little can be told from this debut teaser, it looks like it could be a solid story-driven sci-fi title, which is good because we’re in dire need of more sci-fi shooters. Oh I’m sorry, I mean good sci-fi shooters. Check out official website here –>Link |

Ozzy Osbourne has filed a lawsuit against his BLACK SABBATH bandmate Tony Iommi, claiming that Iommi illegally took sole ownership of the band’s name in a filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Osbourne is suing Iommi for a 50 percent interest in the "Black Sabbath" trademark, along with a portion of Iommi’s profits from use of the name. The Manhattan federal court suit also charges that Osbourne’s "signature lead vocals" are largely responsible for the band’s "extraordinary success," noting that its popularity plummeted during his absence from 1980 through 1996. In a statement released this afternoon (Friday, May 29),Ozzy says about his decision to sue Iommi, "It is with great regret that I had to resort to legal action against my long-term partner Tony Iommi, but after three years of trying to resolve this issue amicably, I feel I have no other recourse.

Those of you holding out for a color version of the Kindle may be disappointed to learn that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is telling the world it won’t be arriving anytime soon. In fact, a color-screened Kindle is “multiple years” away, he said Thursday, adding: “I’ve seen the color displays in the laboratory, and I can assure you they’re not ready for prime time.”
We weren’t expecting a color-screened Kindle in the near future, particularly one that anyone can afford (Fujitsu has just launched the FLEPia color e-book reader in Japan, but it costs $1,000). That said, I strongly suspect we’ll see color-screened e-book readers very soon that don’t use E-ink technology. Manufacturers could simply go with an advanced touch-screen LCD. Apple’s rumored netbook/jumbo iTouch would fall into this camp. And we suspect cheaper, sub-$300 versions will turn up if the whole e-book trend remains hot.

The next generation of High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cables are going to give your HDTV a boost with a maximum 100Mb-per-second Internet connection, audio upstream capability and HD images at four times the resolution of 1080p. Lost amid this week’s Bing and Google hype, was an announcement from HDMI Licensing — the group responsible for managing the HDMI specification — that the next generation of HDMI cables will provide new functionality, and do away with separate Ethernet connections for your various devices. Instead of a having tangled mess of cables behind your TV, the HDTV itself will act as an Internet hub for all those wired goodies in your living room. The new specification is called HDMI 1.4, and aims to take television’s Internet connectivity to the next level.

Google’s Android mobile operating system could be running on 18 to 20 devices by the end of the year, according to Andy Rubin, Google’s senior director for mobile platforms. Speaking at the Google I/O Developer Conference in San Francisco, Rubin further said that eight or nine manufacturers would be involved in the creation of the Android-equipped phones, but reports have him declining to name which ones. Android will continue to be open source. Manufacturers will have the option of installing Android “obligation-free” onto their devices, which means the user will have access to the OS but not Google Apps such as Gmail. A second option for manufacturers that sign a distribution agreement with Google will allow them to pre-install Google Apps onto their devices. The third option, called the “Google Experience,” opens up the manufacturer’s devices to Google Apps and the Android Market.

Google has been showing off some of the new HTML 5 features that it will be building into future releases of Chrome and Android 2.0, codenamed Donut. Speaking at the Google IO developer conference keynote Google’s Vic Gundotra, vice president of developer products, showed off new features such as support for geolocation services and a new way of adding applications to web pages. Chief among these is a tool called Google Web elements, which allows developers to drop in Google applications directly on to pages with just a few lines of code. The company also said that it had now released full support for Java within its App Engine and said it had 10,000 applications using Java ready to go.

Microsoft has responded to some of the long-bubbling rumors about the next generation of its Zune MP3 player and platform, revealing some details about the device. It will feature HD Radio, an OLED touchscreen and an HD video output. Redmond aims to integrate the whole Zune platform, including its online services, into its Xbox Live digital media delivery service. In the fall, Seitz said, Zune will take over the Xbox Live video marketplace in eight countries: the U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain and Germany. “Zune will become the new brand for the Xbox Live marketplace,” commented Rubin. “The content and service will expand beyond the isolated devices that Microsoft offers.” This could be a marketing ploy; videos played on Xbox Live and on Zune are incompatible with each other, and Microsoft could be seeking to get the 17 million-strong Xbox Live community to purchase Zune HD devices.

Some see the touch interface as the next big thing in personal computing, while others view it as a gimmick that won’t replace traditional input devices anytime soon. I’m split on the issue. The success of Apple’s iPhone proves that touch, if done correctly, is a great way to navigate a digital device, particularly one that’s handheld, petite, and portable. Microsoft is bullish on touch and has been developing the technology for several years. In 2007 it unveiled its Microsoft Surface technology, a multitouch tabletop computer that may ultimately find a niche market in government, educational, and health-care kiosks. And a year ago it demoed touch features it’s adding to Windows 7, which will ship this fall. For a demo of Win 7′s multitouch skills, check out this video.
