| Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Doro Pesch's newly released 2DVD/CD set, "25 Years In Rock", features Doro's entire 25-year anniversary concert, including guest performances in front of about 10,000 enthusiastic fans in Düsseldorf, Germany as well as a China special, outtakes from Doro's 2500th concert and a whole lot more. The DVD was released in Europe via Nuclear Blast on November 26 and will be made available in the rest of the world sometime in 2011. "Fear No Evil", the latest album from Pesch, was made available in North America in June 2009 via AFM/Dismanic/Ryko Distribution.

Sean Yseult was the bassist for pioneering eighties and nineties metal band White Zombie, 
a group whose penchant for horror and psychotronic imagery and ultra-heavy, driving grooves made them superstars in the days when MTV actually played music videos. The band broke up in 1998 with lead singer Rob Zombie’s decision to pursue a solo career, but Yseult never stopped playing the music she loves, bringing her bass playing skills and artistic vision to several notable bands, including Famous Monsters, Rock City Morgue and The Cramps. This fall publisher Soft Skull released I’m in the Band: Backstage Notes From the Chick in White Zombie, a collection of rare photos, notes and more curated by Yseult from her own private archives. These days Yseult stays busy. In addition to her ongoing work as one of metal’s great bassists, she manages a multitude of business endeavors, including designing a line of popular scarves that can be found in high end retailers around the country. I was lucky enough to catch this rocking “chick” during one of her very infrequent moments of down time to discuss her life with White Zombie and her career beyond.

Is your hard drive green? This is becoming a more relevant question, especially now that Seagate has joined the growing crowd of eco-friendly hard-drive producers by introducing the Barracuda Green. 
It’s a 3.5-inch desktop hard drive that the company said “delivers whisper-quiet acoustics and helps reduce system costs associated with the fans and power supply devices often required for power-hungry systems.” Seagate said the system, intended for use with low-power personal computers and multi-drive home networking systems, as well as for external PC storage, is made from 70 percent recycled materials and uses low-halogen components under its Seagate Think Green protocols. But wait, there’s more: “These drives are also among the first hard drives from Seagate to offer SmartAlign technology,” Dave Mosley, Seagate executive vice president, said in a statement. “This is important because the industry is transitioning to 4K sector formatting called ‘advanced format’ to improve capacities and maintain strong error correction. SmartAlign technology removes these concerns and makes this transition virtually invisible for our customers.”

Chip makers soon will deliver one of biggest advances in years in the technology that powers laptop and desktop computers. 
But how much consumers—and the chip companies—will benefit is in question. The design trend, expected to be the focus of announcements by Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. at the Consumer Electronics Show early next month, is based on bringing together two long-separate classes of products: microprocessors, the calculating engines that run most PC software; and graphics processing units, which render images in videogames and other programs. Putting the two technologies on one piece of silicon reduces the distance electrical signals must travel and speeds up some computing chores. It also lowers the number of components computer makers need to buy, cutting production costs and helping to shrink the size of computers. Such integrated chips are expected to allow low-priced systems to carry out tasks that currently add hundreds of dollars to the price of a personal computer, such as the ability to play high-definition movies and videogames and to convert video and audio files to different formats quickly.

It can only be a company of the stature as Microsoft that can continue battling and trying real hard to make it big in every field that it enters. 
No matter how much competition it faces from stalwarts like Apple, Google, etc. in the Tablet market (which is dominated by iPads) Microsoft is bent on making it big here too. This time the idea is to run a demo on using the Windows 7 Tablet at CES 2011, wherein Steve Ballmer is reportedly said to showcase Samsung and Dell devices along with other manufacturers. The focus this time would be to encourage partners of Microsoft to develop apps that emphasizes on HTML5 and these apps will be hosted on Microsoft’s website rather than being sold through specific agents. Rumors doing rounds suggest that the Samsung tablet to be portrayed in the event will operate with Windows 7 in the landscape mode and will possess another OS interface while in the portrait mode. When asked to comment on any of the above news, spokesperson Sarah Reid, who works at the software giant’s public relations agency, Waggener-Edstrom said, “Microsoft makes it a practice to not comment on rumors or speculation.”

Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA) was interviewed for the "The Year In Metal" special edition of MTV2's "Headbangers Ball".
When asked about the persistent rumors of a reunion of SEPULTURA's classic lineup (featuring Max on guitar/lead vocals and his brother, Igor Cavalera, on drums), Max said, "I'd like to do it; everybody knows that. When the classic four was together, it was really powerful. And I tried my best — I convinced Igor to go back; I said, 'Would you come if I was involved?' And I talked to Andreas [Kisser, SEPULTURA guitarist]. And Andreas seemed interested at first and then after that it got weird; lawyers started getting involved and shit like that. So I don't know. And I read somewhere that the one that doesn't wanna do it is Paulo [Xisto Pinto Jr.; bass]. [Laughs] Which is, like… I don't know what his gig is; I don't know what his problem is. I would just like to [reunite the classic SEPULTURA lineup] — just for my fans. Show them what this band was all about." The current lineup of SEPULTURA released a video message earlier this week in which it urged fans not to "listen to fucking rumors anymore." The group added, "We are tired of listening to this fucking bullshit that Max is saying all over the world, that there's gonna be a reunion [of SEPULTURA's classic lineup] and this and that. We're here to say there's no communication, there's no talks about any type of reunion or any show with the Cavaleras. Igor is doing his job, Max is supposed to do his job, and we are doing our job. We are SEPULTURA for 26 years and we celebrating this with a new album, a new deal and a new world tour. And [we] hope this is the end of fucking rumors and fucking lies, OK?!"

Studio head Randy Pitchford provided an update on Gearbox's missing Aliens game in October, confirming Colonial Marines – 
first announced in 2006 and originally planned as a 2008 release — is still in development. Now publisher Sega promises we'll see a great deal more of Colonial Marines soon. In an interview with Game Informer, Sega America marketing maestro Alan Pritchard said Sega not only has big plans for Colonial Marines, but the entire Aliens franchise. "Colonial Marines is still on," Pritchard told Game Informer. "We've been working closely with Gearbox behind the scenes, and we'll be able to tell you a lot about that in the next couple of months." "Aliens vs. Predator was a success for us, and we're developing an Aliens franchise roadmap, so there will be subsequent Aliens games."
