Ok Horror based Game to Movie conversions don’t always work out right. But since this movie is being Directed by Christophe Gans and not Uwe Boll lets hope it turns out great. I’m getting tired of seeing directors and script writers butcher good movie material. Mainly, because in their feable minds, they believed the subject matter was an easy chioce for them to make a quick profit from, instead of focusing on making a great film worth seeing. Cross your fingers and hope they didn’t ruin this one. |

It is no surprise that things are starting to change drastically for the top 4 record labels Universal, Sony BMG, EMI and Warner as well as the rest of the recording industry in general. But what they don’t realize is they are in for a rude awakening. What I’m talking about here is the emergence of a new business model that will threaten the way these companies will continue to do business. |

Musicians are always looking hard for alternative solutions because they are fed up with companies hording all the Money and Rights to their music. As technology progresses things change and now they have a new option. Thanks to a company called Tunecore who are a music publishing service operating at minimal costs and who have contracts with iTunes and Rhapsody, are now offering artists the opportunity to sell their music on two of the most powerful online music sellers. Musicians will now be able to cut the middle man by selling, owning and making money on their own songs without the hassles of dealing with the big Labels. At least that’s the plan according to Tunecore. How the big wigs at the RIAA feel or will respond to this company’s new business model is still up in the air. Will they seek to stop it like they did with Napster or will they finally realize that they are the ones who need to change. All I can summize from this is that things are changing real fast and if the Four Big record labels resist change then their days will surely be numbered. All things come to an end eventually and if Tunecore or companies like it continue to offer powerful alternatives then the Music Industry will see a massive change in the way artists will earn their keep. | Come on lets get real here, gameplay is 1/4 of the equation when it comes to playing a great game. Another 1/4 goes into story line another 1/4 to Sounds and the last 1/4 and not necessarily in this order goes to Graphics. Looking at this MMO game and Huxley on a previous post you can see at least in the Graphics department these games make World of Warcraft look like the Mario brothers of MMOs. Sure you can justify W.O.W. as being great for many other reasons but in my opinion, having seen it first hand, I prefer realistic looking textures and not the Crayola colored washed out textures you find in W.O.W.
|
Sorry but I don’t care only about how good a game plays, especially if it lacks in the graphics department. I love eye candy like anyone else but I prefer all 4 vital elements – Gameplay,Graphic,Sound and Storyline to be included for it to win me over. I will always take real world textures and colors over washed out Crayola colored textures any day. So this brings me to S.U.N. – If they do a great job of making sure all 4 vital elements are taken care of, then you can write this one off as a true W.O.W. killer or at least being in a totally different league. After seeing great graphics like those in this game, playing an MMO game like W.O.W which looks outdated as if it should have been released in the early 90s is just plain sad, no matter how much the fans try to justify it. Wasn’t the main reason you bought that $600 dollar graphics card to be able to enjoy better Graphics? To have shaders and bump mapping and shadows and faster rendering etc.? Well at least with S.U.N you will be able to justify your Graphic card purchase as well as enjoy true game progression at it’s finest. And with graphic enhancement like those included in this game things are only getting better and more realistic looking, and for me that’s the only way to go. Main Game website here –> Link |

| Now we now MMO games are addicting by their very nature but what do you get when you mix it with FPS yet another addictive type? Well lets just say crack and heroine is weak stuff compared to this addictive formula. Not only will you get the best of both worlds with Huxley but you will also get it with major eye candy as well. That’s what the makers of Huxley are striving for which is why they turned to the Unreal Engine 3 to make it happen. If you watch the videos and screenshots you can see it is looking good so far and this will surely bring on the mind sucking hypnotic effects known to turn average gamers into MMO drones who usually sacrifice real life with fantasy life in a heart beat. | |

Will I fall victim and be assimilated like the millions already playing MMO games online? Lets just say the temptation is high and like a TV Borg once said – Resistance is futile. So how long can I resist depends on several factors. Hardware and Budget to name a few. So now the questions are, what kind of a PC system are you going to be required to have just to run this game? and how will all the complexities of online gaming and 3d rendering effect the network play? With those questions asked, it will still be interesting to see this game in all it’s glory. But my hopes is that the system requirements do not lock out gamers on a budget because that would be a shame or in my case a blessing in disguise as it will be more difficult to partake and therefore less likely that I will be assimilated. And this is just one of many great games coming soon. Temptation is everywhere. What to do what to do just say no to

Uwe Boll is fed up. He’s fed up with people slating his films on the Internet, mainly. He’s also fed up with Hollywood producers who won’t take movies based on videogames seriously. And perhaps most worryingly, at least in terms of how the rest of this interview is likely to pan out, he’s fed up with the person who’s interviewing him. "The dangerous thing right now is that a lot of people bash me without thinking about the movies. It’s fashionable to hit on Uwe Boll, and this is what I don’t get. And I don’t get why this comes so harshly from the games press," Boll says. The problem, he explains, is that "Tons of journalists, including you, have nothing else to do than to follow the Internet voices of one or two thousand people. Only half of those people have seen my movies, and only two per cent of those people have seen my movies before House of the Dead."

by Matt Leone 02/13/2006 When Activision, id Software and Splash Damage revealed Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, a lot of people were shocked at the concept. Here was a game built on the DOOM 3 graphics engine that not only planned to support 32 players online at a time, but planned to do so in massive outdoor environments along the lines of what’s been seen in the Battlefield universe. How is this possible using an engine built for small rooms and narrow corridors? We went to Splash Damage’s Richard Jolly to sort out all the details behind the look of the upcoming game. |

1UP: What would you say is the main approach behind the look of the game? Richard Jolly, Art Director, Splash Damage Ltd.: The driving factor was the game’s setting and back-story. Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is set before QUAKE II, during the first stages of the Strogg invasion of Earth in 2065. As a futuristic multiplayer combat game with vehicles, it portrays the battles, raids and skirmishes that turned the tide, saved planet Earth and made QUAKE II and QUAKE 4’s retaliation attack against Planet Stroggos possible. Splash Damage started with id Software’s own back-story, and then our writer, Edward Stern, worked with id Software to flesh out the political, social and economic events leading up to where we join the game — this gave us a strong footing for establishing the look. | Now this is one movie I hope they don’t screw up. We know not all comic book to movie conversions turn out great on screen. Seeing the very small teaser at least you can see Ghost Rider is looking great. As for Nicholas Cage playing the role of Johnny Blaze, all I can say is, he is a good actor and i’m glad to see he gave up the role of Superman for this movie instead which at least is a better fit for him. I only hope they made the script as true to the comic book as possible and not over commercialized it. Now we have to wait til next year 2/16/07 before we can feast our eyes on this one.

Actress/singer puts movie work on hold to concentrate on Wicked Wisdom.
By Gil Kaufman 01.31.2006
If you ever picture it at all, the music you might expect to hear pumping from the stereo at Will Smith’s house is probably some old-school hip-hop: Spoonie Gee, classic KRS-One, a bit of Grandmaster Flash. But if wife Jada Pinkett Smith is home, it’s more likely to be an ear-bleeding mix of metal from Mastodon, A Dozen Furies, Otep and Bury Your Dead. "I listened to all kinds of metal as a kid," said Pinkett Smith, who has spent the past few years honing her hard-rock chops as frontwoman of Wicked Wisdom, a band that’s put in such serious road time lately that the actress has been all but invisible on the big screen since its formation four years ago. "Metallica, Guns N’ Roses. I would always look at Axl Rose and say, ‘Why aren’t there any chicks out there doing this now?’ I always wanted an opportunity to get out there and rock out."

Storied director tells BusinessWeek that he’s working on an ambitious game which will tie into his next big screen project. But is it Battle Angel Alita or Avatar?
Last March, filmmaker James Cameron shook up the 2005 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Sitting on an Xbox-sponsored panel discussing the future of entertainment, the Terminator director revealed he was planning an Enter the Matrix-like crossover game to be developed alongside his next movie. "In my next film, I can only tell you what we’re planning on doing, which is simultaneously developing a major motion picture and, hopefully, a major game title that coexists in the same world that shares characters." He continued, "Going into that world will actually inform those watching the film and vice versa. I don’t want to say anything more than that, because I don’t want to give away some of the cool stuff that we’re working on."

In a recent interview with SciFi Wire, Milla Jovovich (star of Resident Evil Apocalypse) infomed www.moviesonline.ca on her role in the movie, which had most principal photography done in China and Hong Kong. I just got back last month. It’s super cool. It’s very different from Resident Evil, but it’s a sci-fi movie, and there is a virus in it. But those are the only similarities. Ultraviolet deals with a war in the 21st century between humans and those infected with a disease that turns them into superhuman but short-lived vampire-like creatures. Jovovich’s character is the leader of a resistance against the evil government. |
