New Zealand film makers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh are to team up with software giant Microsoft to create interactive games.
Jackson, Walsh and Microsoft Game Studios have combined to launch Wingnut Interactive, described as a "New Zealand-based studio dedicated to the creation of world-class interactive entertainment". Wingnut Interactive’s first project will be a new instalment in the Halo game series for Microsoft’s game consoles. Jackson and Walsh are already executive producers on a film version of Halo. Microsoft described a second project by Wingnut Interactive as "an entirely original property targeted at bringing new audiences into the captivating world of interactive entertainment" completely designed in New Zealand. Jackson said the new technology available allowed storytellers to express themselves in a new way.
