Guillermo Del Toro, the loveable big-mouth that he is, may have already confirmed that Sir Ian McKellen is set to return as Gandalf The Grey in his two-movie adaptation of The Hobbit – but in the ever-changing world of moviedom you just can’t believe what you hear until it comes from the horse’s mouth. So, on spotting The Lord Of The Rings star at the UK premiere of Speed Racer (no, we don’t know what he was doing there either), we grabbed him for a quick chat. “Yes, it’s true,” he said. “I spoke to Guillermo in the very room that Peter Jackson offered me the part and he confirmed that I would be reprising the role. Obviously, it’s not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf.”

New interview says that they’ve been "observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor," and that for its next album fans can expect "everything in terms of possibilities with the Internet."
It was back in 2000 that Metallica discovered a demo of its song "I Disappear," which was supposed to be released in combination with the Mission: Impossible II soundtrack, was receiving radio airplay. Tracing the source of the leak, the band found that the song was available on Napster, the long defunct P2P network. It also found that the band’s entire catalogue was available as well. It was soon thereafter that it sued Napster for copyright infringement and became on of the most vocal critics of file-sharing. The lawsuit was settled in 2001, and under terms of the settlement, Napster agreed to identify and block access to files that artists do not want shared. It was their case against Napster that really made Metallica the face of file-sharing critics and really incensed a lot of people who couldn’t understand how a band that had already made millions was concerned with making millions more. In any event, they seem to have come full circle these days with news that its fight was "never about downloading per se," and that it has been closely "…observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor."
Say what?

The game’s official site has launched, and visitors are treated to the above trailer upon arrival — and as far as first impressions go, we’ll say that the graphics certainly do look good (a disclaimer at the start even promises that what we’re seeing is real in-game footage). Higher quality versions of the teaser can be found here. Of course, it takes more than just pretty graphics to have a successful MMO, and from looking at some of the proposed features of Mortal Online it would appear that the developers are well aware of this. The game will be played in first-person, and one of the primary focuses will be hardcore PvP, with a real-time combat system. Couple this with the fact that there will be no leveling at all, and you start to realize that we’re looking at a very different game here. Check out official website here –>Link |

Altair has a well kept secret
By Alex ‘Morgoth Bauglir’ Voicu April 16th, 2008 repost here –>4/18/08
Assassin’s Creed is a title that needs little introduction. Benefiting from ambitious marketing efforts, an intriguing gameplay idea, the expertise of an experienced developer like Ubisoft Montreal and the charm of Jade Raymond, the game was prone to land with a splash. It has been generally well received, and gamers seem to enjoy being in the shoes of a medieval assassin. Graphically speaking (remember, that’s our primary focus here), it employs an advanced engine, with both a DX9 and a DX10 pathway, with the DX10 one being faster according to Ubi. Albeit a little on the undertextured side, it’s certainly nice looking and rather well performing with some caveats we’ll soon discuss. If AC’s only peculiarities were limited to the above, you’d be entitled to wonder why we’re writing a separate sneak-peek about it, as there are quite a few games who share the same characteristics. In a moment, you’ll see that quite probably there’s something that Altair has brought to the table that’s extremely unique…and we’re not talking about his extensive arsenal.
