Horror master is teaming up with Codemasters to scare the bejeezus out of gamers.

Clive Barker’s Undying was a critical hit when it arrived for PCs in 2001. Now it looks like the director/ author/ professional creepy guy is ready to get back into games, as he has apparently struck a deal with Codemasters to develop a new mature-themed game for next-generation consoles and PCs.

Barker was drawn by a videogame’s potential to allow the player to explore many paths in a story, rather than the one path viewers experience in a book or movie. Titled "Clive Barker’s Jericho", the game unfolds in an elaborate quest to reach the innermost sanctum of a place called — wait for it — Jericho, where evil incarnate is hanging out. The player is part of a Special Forces squad trained in both conventional warfare and the arcane arts. "There are things in my imagination which I think can only be paintings, things that can only be books, and this thing has to be a game," Barker said. "Is there a movie in it later? Sure. But what it has to be is what it’s going to be first, an absolutely killer game."
