Disbarred attorney and outspoken videogame critic jumps on the anti-Medal of Honor bandwagon.
It's been a while since we heard from Jack Thompson, the disbarred Florida attorney that's become the unofficial spokesperson for the anti-videogame crowd. The man who became infamous for labeling Grand Theft Auto a "murder simulator" has a new game in his sights, Electronic Arts' upcoming Medal of Honor reboot. In a letter recently faxed to U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and obtained by PC Mag, Thompson describes Medal of Honor as a "training tool for those who wish to kill" U.S. troops and requests that Gates "do what is necessary, proper, and legal to stop the release" of the videogame. "I would also strongly suggest that the Defense Department find out who these Special Ops people are who have acted so foolishly in this regard," Thompson wrote, referring to the Afghanistan veterans EA consulted with on the game. "Finally, I believe the full weight of the federal government should come down upon Electronic Arts and the videogame industry's Entertainment Software Association for their allowing, presently and fraudulently, despite promises to Congress, the widespread pre-sale of this adult game to minors throughout the country and around the world."
