| Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel. The future of Skyrim, even the Empire itself, hangs in the balance as they wait for the prophesized Dragonborn to come; a hero born with the power of The Voice, and the only one who can stand amongst the dragons.

| The devs discuss the changes they're making for the second game in the franchise. By Mike Sharkey | Dec 9, 2010 Before Dragon Age: Origins hit the streets, Executive Producer Mark Darrah, Art Director Matthew Goldman, and Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw sat down to discuss where they wanted to take the franchise. Thanks to this developers' diary, we get to play fly on the wall and get all the details on how the conversation went down, and what it means for Dragon Age 2. |
|
| The devs don't pull any punches in this video as they freely admit they're trying to take the tactical RPG that played like an elegant chess match on the PC and streamline things so Dragon Age 2 plays just as well on consoles. Dragon Age 2 is being developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PCs. The game is set to ship on March 11, 2011.

In 2007, Polish developer CD Projekt Red released The Witcher, an unusually titled role-playing game inspired by the dark fantasy novels of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The game starred Geralt, a cynical, white-haired "witcher"–a spellsword equally talented in the arts of alchemy and swordplay–in the royal service of a king presiding over a realm divided by mistrust, conspiracy, and hatred. This original game became a cult classic and was later rereleased with various improvements as an "enhanced edition." But since the release of the first game, CD Projekt Red has been doing a lot more than just enhancements. In fact, it started development on the next game just after completing the first one, and for the sequel, the studio has overhauled the graphics engine, has changed the way combat works, and has been building a more-challenging new adventure with a gritty, adult feel. Take your first official look at The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. |

Gear up your Grey Wardens, Dragon Age buffs, because Bioware’s dubbed and dated its first official expansion pack, Awakenings, shipping worldwide for Xbox 360, PS3, and Windows March 16, 2010. Armchair conquistadors rejoice, because the expansion adds a new area called Amaranthine–a word that means "undying" or "unfading"–and invites you to probe the origins of the original game’s diabolic darkspawn. It won’t be cheap, though: You’ll shell out $40 for a copy, whether for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Windows PC. Per usual, you’ll encounter new creatures with attribute-educed names like ‘Inferno Golems’ and ‘Spectral Dragons’, including what the press release describes as "an evolved, intelligent breed of darkspawn."
